Garmin Connect IQ App Development for the Preventive Medicine Platform

We're currently developing a scalable infrastructure platform for preventive medicine, personal health monitoring, and digital longevity. We've solved one of the key challenges: monitoring and reading data from smartwatches.
Why Garmin
Devices for the medical platform must be certified in Europe. Therefore, we chose the global leader, Garmin: their gadgets have a full set of certification documents.
When the API is closed
The original plan was to purchase access to the Garmin API and build visualizations based on it. I submitted a request to Garmin Connect Developer. They responded quickly: review and approval of new API access requests is temporarily suspended; according to industry forums, it's unlikely to be available before the summer of 2027.
I proposed a different approach: a custom app for Garmin Connect IQ that runs on the watch itself and transmits data to the platform. This way, we're independent of the API queue and have control over what data we collect and how often.
Certification of medical software in the EU
Interestingly, even hosting services automatically block resources if they fail to comply with a number of strict EU requirements for medical data. There will be a separate article on medical software certification in the EU—it's a big topic.

Questions and Answers
Is it possible to remove data from Apple Watch or Xiaomi?
Technically yes, but for a medical platform in the EU, device certification is essential; Garmin has the full package, so they were chosen.
What indicators are taken?
Heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep, activity, and other metrics available in the Connect IQ app on your specific watch model.
