In short: the Karlovy Vary resort needed a multilingual information portal—a live portal with events, weather, and medical services for guests of the President Hotel—without a separate language version or a separate app for events and weather forecasts. The task I was given was precisely this: a live portal for the tourist zone with daily information for guests from different countries.

Karlovy Vary is an international resort: tourists from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia come here for treatment and relaxation. I was tasked with creating a live information portal for the tourist area, and I immediately incorporated three features into the architecture by default, not as add-ons: multilingual support with RTL, live city data, and a hotel medical widget.

What does a diorama hero look like and why was this style chosen?

Briefly: the main screen is a hand-drawn diorama-like foldout: a blue globe, the resort buildings surrounding it, and the curved, rotating text "Karlovy Vary" on a bright yellow background, topped by the current time and weather forecast. I kept the interface around the illustration deliberately minimal—one row of links and two fonts.

I'd long wanted to create a pop-up book-style diorama, and it was a perfect fit: this approach is currently popular with a young and active audience under 35. The illustrations in the project are hand-drawn, not AI-generated: the globe, the landmark buildings and springs of Karlovy Vary around it, and the clouds in the yellow sky. I built a composition around them—the curved text "Karlovy Vary" that rotates and holds the viewer's attention on the first screen.

I kept the interface around the illustration intentionally simple: a single row of centered navigation links in Arial small caps and an accent font, Changa One, for the title. On this same screen, I placed the exact time and weather forecast right at the top of the diorama—the tourist doesn't have to search for this information on another page.

The Garden Colonnade is a cast-iron "lace" from 1880-1881, designed by Fellner and Helmer, while the Castle Colonnade is an Art Nouveau building from 1910-1913, designed by Friedrich Ohmann.

Briefly: the President Hotel portal features two separate health services: a Longevity widget with routes and programs, and a separate integration with the GARMIN Connect IQ monitoring system. Guests can see both directly on the resort portal, alongside events and weather information, without having to navigate to a third-party app.
